better. For they existed. Prophet David Wayne Nutt February 8, 1958 - June 5, 2024 Prophet David Wayne Nutt was born on February 8, 1958, in Bakersfield, California, to parents George Lee Nutt and Dora Lee Clark-Nutt, David was the fifth of six children. From the tender age of 5 years old, it was clear that God’s Hand was on David, blessing him with great musical talent. David's educational journey began at Colonel Thomas Baker Elementary School, followed by McKinley Elementary, and Emerson Jr. High School, where he played the trumpet in the school band. He continued his musical journey at Bakersfield High School as a member of the BHS Driller Marching Band. The family church, St. Paul COGIC played a significant role in David's life, under the leadership of Supt. Nathaniel Duffey, Sr.. David flourished in this nurturing environment, singing in the Junior Choir and later being promoted to the Youth Choir before the age of 12 due to his exceptional talent. David's rendition of "Silent Night" was a cherished part of holiday programs. He also joined the church band, "The St. Paul Specials." After graduating from high school, David attended Bakersfield City College where he began studying electronics. He simultaneously trained with the Kern County Fire Department, showcasing his commitment to public service and safety. Through a college apprenticeship program, David moved to Los Angeles and began working at Hughes Aircraft, where he was hired as an Electronic Engineer. He continued his career after the company merged with Raytheon Technologies, and retired after 35 years of dedicated employment. David’s innovative skills in the field of electronics extended beyond the workplace, as he built several computers and machines by hand as a hobby. David was a devoted student and follower of the Word of God. He answered the Call of God on his life as a young man, spoken prophetically over him and his siblings by his father George Lee. In pursuit of full-time ministry, David graduated from the inaugural class of Apostle Frederick K. C. Price School of Ministry at Crenshaw Christian Center. David continued to teach the Word throughout the rest of his life, touching the lives of many people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. During David’s employment at Hughes, he also held a Bible Study Course for his co-workers. Hungry for knowledge, and keenly interested in Literature and the Classics, David continued his education and obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Organizational Leadership and Management in from Biola University. With a penchant for languages, David was fluent in French, proficient in Spanish, and well-studied in Biblical Hebrew and Greek. David’s musical gifts flourished throughout his life. His business card read: “I will sing for you.” As a worship leader, David loved to praise God in song, singing for a range of events, including weddings and funerals. He was well known for singing “I’ve Got Friends In High Places” by Larnell Harris. As a miraculous sign of God, many of us witnessed a dove rise up into the air and hover directly behind David as he sang this song unto the Lord. David’s musical talents extended to his mastery of the trumpet, cornet, guitar, keyboard, harmonica, and bongos. David married Nicolé Antoinette Chaney, and they had a daughter, Angelica Chéri Nutt. David was a loving and devoted husband, supporting his wife through her battle with breast cancer until her unfortunate passing, just 11 months after giving birth to their daughter. In her honor, David became a mentor in the Lorraine Jackson Foundation, which provides scholarships to children whom have lost a parent to breast cancer. David was a most outstanding father, raising his daughter Angelica as a single father. David noticed Angelica’s storytelling talents at a young age, and encouraged her to pursue her God-given gifts. Because of her father’s nurturing, Angelica is now a recognized playwright, screenwriter, and lyricist. But David says it all started from their game of “Yogi Bear”, when she was small. In his life, David overcame many health challenges, throughout which he continued to praise God and encourage people by teaching the finished work of Jesus Christ. After a 5-year battle with dialysis, David passed away at the age of 66, on June 5th, 2024. David was preceded in death by his wife Nicolé, his sister Lewanda Delores Nutt who died at the age of 16, and his parents George Lee and Dora Lee. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving daughter Angelica, his siblings Willie George Nutt (Sharon), Ricky Lyn Nutt (Vicky), Barbara Ann Hammonds (Reginald), and Frederick Boyd McCastle, his close-knit community in the South Bay Area of Los Angeles, California, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loving relatives, and friends. The faith and love David shared will be forever etched in our hearts. Psalm 89:34-35—My covenant I will not break, nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips. Once I have sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David. (NKJV)
